Hope you’re enjoying the posts this morning. I just wanted to take a minute’s sidebar from my usual jam and share with you all a story about my friend Michael and his little tyke bro, Christopher. The skinny:Christopher is a cool cat and like all cool cats, he comes with a sad story.You see, he is one of approx. 60 people WORLDWIDE diagnosed with an uber-rare disease called Kleefstra Syndrome.More than this, Christopher also lives with cerebral palsy, a painful and crippling disease. So what does this mean? Essentially, Christopher cannot outwardly communicate. He has never been able to speak a single word. This might not seem like much, but if we take a look at what we’re all doing here, sharing our inspirations and aspirations (even at times our protestations and defamations), we’re all here to communicate: to feel connected. This is exactly what Michael and his family are trying to do with Christopher. They long to open up the blocked channels of communication so that they might be able to better connect with this boy whom they love so unconditionally.This requires more than love though. It requires expensive therapy, at-home nurse care, medications and doctor’s visits. Which brings us to the real dilemma in providing care for Christopher: the cost. It is a constant battle with insurance companies who are unwilling to support the essential care necessary for someone with such a rare condition, the requirements of which put an intense financial, emotional and physiological strain on Christopher’s family. So guess what Michael has done? He’s started a fundraising campaign for his little broskies to raise $10,000 by his 13th birthday. If 1,000 people from across the internet  simply donated $10, Michael will reach his goal and Christopher will have the funds he needs to continue therapy and care. How freakin’ cool is that? HELP A BROTHA, HELP HIS BROTHA with one of the greatest birthday presents ever imagined. Thank you so much for reading through this and your prospected support of this amazing child and his family.
